Campus Wellness COmmittee

The Campus Wellness functions to carry out adequate policy responses to campus public health issues, including but not limited to mental wellness and reproductive health. Currently, the committee is working to spearhead the rollout of free menstrual products for all students who menstruate on the SMCM Campus.


Environmental Protection Committee

The Environmental Protection Committee functions to review policies and actions of the administration, the SGA, and the student body, including all student‐run environmental organizations, with regards to the maintaining the environmental integrity of St. Mary’s College and its surrounding community. EPC is a forum for new ideas between the student body, the SGA, and the administration to preserve, protect, and improve the general ecosystem of the campus and the outlying community, including the St. Mary’s River. The committee also serves as a liaison between the Office Sustainability, the SGA, and the student body regarding the Green St. Mary’s Revolving Loan Fund (GSMRF). This past year, EPC sponsored the purchase of a new tractor for the KC3 Farm and they led the Organicup Drive.


Policy Review Committee

The Policy Review Committee functions to review policies and actions of the the SGA in all of its components and related institutions outlined in its Constitution and Bylaws, and to recommend changes necessary therein. The committee investigates and reviews matters relating to misconduct by clubs or SGA sanctioned groups and committees. The committee cooperates with the Constitutional Review Committee on legislation pertaining to Bylaws Amendments.


Publicity Committee

Point News Representatives: Elizabeth Candelaria

The Publicity Committee is responsible for maintaining clear and effective communication between the Student Government Association (SGA) and the student body. This includes weekly updates to the SGA Instagram and Facebook, highlighting SGA, club, and campus events, as well as sharing meeting agendas and newly passed legislation. The committee also manages the SGA website, ensuring accurate and timely information is available to all students. To support campus organizations, the committee provides a post request form, accessible via the SGA Instagram bio, where clubs can request event promotions and even poster creation if needed. A key focus of the committee is increasing student engagement and fostering transparency about SGA activities. Additionally, the Point News Representative, who must be an active member of The Point News, is tasked with identifying and nominating relevant articles about SGA for publication on the SGA website and may contribute original content about SGA as appropriate. Through these efforts, the Publicity Committee strives to keep the student body informed and connected.

Cultural Relations Investigations and Actions Committee

The Cultural Relations Investigations and Actions functions to examine cultural relations with the college and recommend way to address its findings to the Senate. This committee works with the IDEAA office as well as institutional bodies such as Public Safety to ensure all students feel safe and comfortable on the St. Mary’s campus. This past year, the CRI&A committee sponsored the “Step Afrika” event on campus.


Student Life Infrastructure Fund Committee (SLIF-C)

Student Life Infrastructure Fund Committee (SLIF-C) functions to oversee the Student Life Infrastructure Fund (SLIF). The committee is responsible for identifying areas where student life could be improved, coordinating with Residence Life, allocating ad hoc project funds to deserving projects, and creating and executing four year plans for larger-scale projects.


Constitutional Review COmmittee

The Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) functions to look over and revise proposed legislation before approving new business to be seen by the senate. The committee is responsible for ensuring proposed legislation is properly formatted, accurate, constitutional, and upholds the spirit of our SGA charter documents as a whole.


Elections COmmittee

The Elections committee functions to oversee the election processes of the Student Government Association. This committee is responsible for the dispersion of election-related information, collecting and approved candidacy applications, enforcing proper election conduct, and managing the voting period.
